1.1. EnCloudEn Private Cloud:

ECN Private Cloud brings you the best of public clouds in an on-premises package, so that you are able to enjoy the benefits of growing on demand and at the same time operate within the stringent security and compliance demands of your organization. The ECN Private Cloud stack is an automated deployment which simplifies all installation tasks including patching. With just your network and storage details, the stack automatically sets up in a day and the intuitive management platform is ready to be used from Day Zero.

The ECN Private Cloud is a complete solution with all requisite layers for building a comprehensive private cloud. It begins with the software stack being deployed on a bare metal server. This will include, but not be limited to, the OS for the physical server, the hypervisor, the hyper converged platform (if opted for), the cloud management layer, the monitoring and orchestration engine and the management platform. No specialized OS or software is required to be deployed outside of the ECN cloud stack. VMs can be sized as per the requirements of the customer without specific limits on individual cores, RAM, storage or the total number of VMs basis the total physical host infrastructure available.

ECN Private Cloud solution is available in four main editions with rich feature set which evolves from Starter to Ultimate edition. Besides this, there are also a host of Custom features that you can opt for. These are available at per feature pricing.

ECN PRIVATE CLOUD EDITIONS:

1.1.1. Starter Edition

The starter edition comes with the basic features to manage your cloud infrastructure conveniently and the deployment is limited to a maximum of 3 Nodes.

Following are the features included in our Starter Edition

1.1.1.1. HOST ORCHESTRATOR:

The ability to deploy physical nodes for your cloud derives from the EnCloudEn Host orchestrator. The orchestrator just needs the hardware configuration that you have selected and the network VLAN details that you want to apply as an input and it automatically deploys the physical nodes into the cloud.

1.1.1.2. VM ORCHESTRATOR:

Just like the Host orchestrator, the VM orchestrator takes care of the launching and provisioning of VMs. You are able to specify size and quantity of VMs of your desired configuration with simple clicks.

1.1.1.3. SINGLE STORAGE BACKEND:

Unlike the higher editions, the starter pack comes with the support of a single storage backend. This will be for an ethernet based NAS storage.

1.1.1.4. VM MANAGEMENT:

The VM management page of the Louvre Management Platform’s dashboard will be available with this edition. This will include the basic functions like creation, resizing (with hot adding based on OS support), assignment and other functions of similar importance.

1.1.1.5. ENVIRONMENT OPTIONS:

ECN Private Cloud supports a hybrid environment within the same node or cluster. You can have different OSes (Windows variants, Linux Variants and most other x86 OSes) co-existing within the same cluster.

1.1.2. Enterprise Edition:

From Enterprise Edition onwards the ECN Private Cloud can be deployed on unlimited number of host nodes. All features of a Starter Edition will also be available in an Enterprise Edition.

FEATURE ADDITION LOG:

1.1.2.1. LOAD BALANCER:

The intelligent allocation algorithm of ECN Private Cloud is able to determine the best placement of VMs so that performance is maximized across nodes.

1.1.2.2. HIGH AVAILABILITY:

ECN Private Cloud provides you a highly available active-active architecture. This ensures that your cluster is up and running irrespective of any node failure. Virtual machines can be set to auto-migrate in the event of the node failure. You can plan the sizing inline with your expected level of redundancy (N+1 or N+2 or anything else). This can be supported both on the HCI platform as well in a traditional three tier architecture with an external shared storage like SAN, NAS etc.

1.1.2.3. LIVE MIGRATION:

You can now carry out live migration of a VM from one physical node to another of your choice. You can easily achieve this with a shared storage platform like EnCloudEn HCI or an external storage device or between different storage arrays and if required also without a shared storage platform via block migration over the network.

1.1.2.4. NODE ADDITION:

You now have the flexibility of adding nodes to your already running cluster. The same can be done without downtime with minimal human involvement. New nodes that are added do not need to be from the same hardware vendor.

1.1.2.5. STORAGE BACKEND:

This edition will include the support for NAS and SAN based storage backends and creation of virtual volumes within them. These boxes can then be leveraged to carry out a lot of storage functions which are otherwise carried out by the virtualisation software itself.

1.1.2.6. THIN PROVISIONING:

BY default, thin provisioning is enabled. This allows for the creation of a virtual disk that is provisioned in full with respect to the inputted storage requirements for a VM. However, only as much storage as is needed for its initial operations is first committed. Additional storage is added on the fly, thereby eliminating under-utilization of storage space.

1.1.2.7. STORAGE CLASSES:

This edition allows for the creation of multiple storage classes and the ability to base volumes and VMs as a function of these.

1.1.2.8. RESTFUL API:

The EnCloudEn Private Cloud has been designed with a RESTFUL API architecture. You can have full access and control of all available operations by calling the API for your required execution. There can also be API integrations to be used for third party solutions for objectives like ITSM, monitoring, networking, EMS etc.

1.1.2.9. GRANULAR STORAGE QoS:

You can now set individual storage metrics for each VM. For example, you can set the IOPs allocated for each VM thereby giving preferential hierarchy to individual VMs and applications based on their profile.

1.1.2.10. CUSTOM TEMPLATE FROM SNAPSHOTS:

The Louvre Management Platform allows for taking a snapshot for any of your VMs. As an additional feature, you are also able to use this point in time snapshot of a particular VM as a custom template and launch other new VMs using the template.

1.1.2.11. VOLUME MANAGEMENT:

You can now create additional individual volumes apart from those automatically created with the launching of a new VM. These volumes are portable in nature and can be moved from one VM to the next. Also, this provides an additional layer of protection of your data as even if a VM crashes this portable volume will remain unaffected unlike the volumes ingrained within the VM’s OS.

1.1.2.12. RAM OVERCOMMITMENT:

The solution also provides enhanced capabilities of RAM deduplication. Because of this, you are able to easily overcommit RAM in excess of the total physical total present in the physical servers.

1.1.2.13. DEPARTMENT & VM CREATE WORKFLOW:

The Create workflow from the Louvre Management Platform will be available in this edition. This will enable the creation of individual departments and VMs through a simple automated workflow.

1.1.2.14. AD/LDAP INTEGRATION:

The solution can integrate with your existing authentication mechanism whether it be AD/LDAP to allow you to use the same sets of users on this platform or you can also create local users.

1.1.2.15. 3rd PARTY SECURITY SOLUTIONS INTEGRATION:

All security solutions which have compatibility with KVM hypervisor will also be supported on the EnCloudEn platform. These can be regular agent based, lightweight agent based as well as agentless depending on the solution provider’s deployment architecture.

1.1.3. Premium Edition:

All features of an Enterprise Edition will be available in a Premium Edition.

FEATURE ADDITION LOG:

1.1.3.1. VM ZONING:

Now you have a lot more additional control on where to launch your VMs. You can create your own zones of physical hosts and give ‘hints’ to a VM for which set of hosts it is designated to run. This allows for a preference based mapping of available resources to a priority VM. You can also leverage the affinity/anti-affinity rules to define whether a VM is paired or separated from another VM on this zone of hosts. Additionally, VMs can also be provided priority access to resources by dedicating memory and cores.

1.1.3.2. MULTI STORAGE BACKEND/PROTOCOL SUPPORT:

This edition will include integration for multiple backends including (but not limited to) NFS, SMB, iSCSI, FC and FCoE based infrastructure for storage or even boot purposes. Software adaptors are also available for offloading some of these functions. You can also integrate with leading third party storage solutions with storage APIs. Besides this you can also combine and run EnCloudEn’s HCI based Private Cloud to access these backends providing the physical hosts have the necessary network ports and cards.

1.1.3.3. REAL TIME MONITORING OF INDIVIDUAL RESOURCES:

The Louvre Platform continuously monitors all individual VMs and physical host infrastructure gives you real time monitoring and data of the consumption across multiple resources like allocated CPU, Memory, Disk IOPs, Network IOPs etc. These pieces of information can be utilized to proactively migrate VMs based on defined conditions as well dedicating specific resources to VMs to improve performance. The solution can also provide integration with major systems management vendors for them to leverage the monitoring data and also at individual hosts if required.

1.1.3.4. TREND ANALYSIS:

The Louvre Platform gives you accurate insights into how the resources that you have implemented are being utilized across your organization. Trends, graphs and consumption reports give you an exact feedback on where you have under or over- provisioned resources from the level of a team/project/department to the granularity of an individual VM.

1.1.3.5. LIVE VM CONSUMPTION RANKING:

The monitoring is not just limited to a static processing, but an active analysis of all resource critical VMs are auto-highlighted for proactive resolution. A live ranking of all VMs across the entire deployment is carried out where a VM which has the highest percentage consumption of its allocated resources automatically rises to the top of the ranking for intervention if required. This ranking is carried out an individual resource level for better triage and narrowing down of problem areas.

1.1.3.6. CUSTOMIZABLE DECK:

Admins can now create a custom deck of VMs that they have aggregated across multiple departments that they want to keep a close eye on. This customizable deck will allow for an in depth analysis of each VMs resource utilization pattern across different time periods. Multiple VMs can also be positioned against each other for a comparative analysis between them.

1.1.4. Ultimate Edition:

All features of the Premium Edition will be available in an Ultimate Edition as well.

FEATURE ADDITION LOG:

1.1.4.1. APPLICATION ORCHESTRATOR:

You are now able to have a true centralized control over all your individual VMs. With the app orchestrator, you can install, uninstall and update any group of applications on any range of VMs at your convenience without the need of getting into the VM.

1.1.4.2. PROCESS ORCHESTRATOR:

With the process orchestrator, you can not only install, uninstall and update any group of applications on any range of VMs, but you can also start, stop or schedule a process in any VM at your convenience without the need of getting into the VM.

1.1.4.3. PATCH ORCHESTRATOR:

EnCloudEn Private Cloud comes with a centralized patch management tool. With this you are able to create an isolated test environment within the same cluster and verify the results. Once satisfied, you can preferentially push these updates on any selected VM without downtime if applicable, ensuring that all of your systems are patched always and do not need to carry out this functionality at an individual VM level.

1.1.4.4. MULTI-TENANT ARCHITECTURE:

With inbuilt multi-tenancy, just like in a public cloud, you are now able to give out IaaS to your internal teams/projects/departments for consumption. With a quota driven approach, you can now ensure that each team/client gets the exact resources that they need and can work independently in network silos. You can also have financial and business users using this tenancy admin rights for approval and provisioning of resources within the individual team.

1.1.4.5. ROLE BASED ACCESS:

With an RBAC dashboard, users and admins can now access a control module of their own set of machines and are able to provision resources within their defined quota.

1.1.4.6. QUOTA ALLOCATION FOR INDIVIDUAL DEPARTMENTS:

Each individual department that has been launched can come with its own assigned quota so that resource allocation decisions can be made effectively.

1.1.4.7. REAL TIME MONITORING OF DEPARTMENT RESOURCES:

The Louvre Management Platform does not only give you real time data on your individual VM level, but also tracks utilization and consumption at a per department level. This is a very effective capacity planning tool as it aggregates the resources in the department pool and provides trends on how effectively the capacity has been used. This helps in right sizing your resource pool.

1.1.4.8. EMAIL ALERTING FOR RESOURCE CRITICALITY:

Email alerting for critical resources is also available so that issues can be highlighted and escalated as per their criticality.

1.1.4.9. SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKING SUITE:

EnCloudEn Private Cloud comes with a full fledged SDN suite. You can enable more granular security, optimize network hardware costs and direct and automate traffic for better QoS. You have full capabilities for delivering micro-segmentation, distributed virtual switches, Firewall as a Service, load balancing via teaming algorithms, packet capturing & tracing, network adaptors, invigilation of network traffic and QoS controls among others as well. There is also support for both IPv4 and IPv6 as well integration with your existing enterprise VLANs (801.1q VLAN support fully included). Capabilities to measure traffic at multiple levels are also ingrained.

1.1.4.10. MULTIPLE NICS FOR VM:

The solution allows for the configuration of a VM with one or more virtual NICs. Each of these network interfaces can have its own IP address.

1.1.4.11. FLOATING IP ALLOCATION:

The solution supports the creation and assignment of floating IPs (refer elastic IPs of AWS) at an individual VM level for appropriate network paths.

1.1.4.12. SELF-SERVICE NETWORK:

The solution supports self-service networks. Whenever a department is created, it is initially launched in a self-service network which is completely isolated from all the other networks. The admin then has a choice of either keeping this isolated or attaching to any of the available corporate or provider or any other desired network. All the switching and routing necessary for these changes happen automatically at the backend with the software defined capabilities.

1.1.4.13. GRANULAR NETWORK QoS:

You can now set individual network metrics for each VM. For example, you can set the bandwidth allocated for each VM thereby giving preferential hierarchy to individual VMs and applications based on their profile.

1.1.4.14. MULTI–VLAN SUPPORT:

EnCloudEn Private Cloud comes with full integration with your enterprise VLANs. The multi VLAN architecture of your corporate network can be kept consistent while implementing the EnCloudEn Solution.

1.1.4.15. In-BUILT SECURITY FIREWALL:

The solution comes with firewall as a service. You can now define different firewall rules for all your individual teams/projects/departments as desired.

1.1.4.16. MICRO-SEGMENTATION:

You can now create secure zones and isolate your workloads or teams as desired with the help of EnCloudEn’s SDN suite. The micro segmentation support lets you create a custom network implementation that helps maintain secure boundaries between your different workloads.

1.1.4.17. FULL VM MANAGEMENT:

This edition comes with full access to all the functionalities of the VM Management console of the Louvre Management Platform where you can also modify VM resources online and also move VMs between hosts.

1.1.4.18. FULL OVERVIEW:

This edition comes with full view of all the metrics that are tracked and available in the Overview section of the Louvre Management Platform.

1.1.4.19. FULL NETWORK MANAGEMENT:

This edition comes with full access to all the functionalities of the Network Management console of the Louvre Management Platform.

1.1.4.20. LICENSE/SECURITY MANAGEMENT:

Various modes of software licenses are also supported in this edition. These may include (but not limited to) custom MAC ID based licenses, custom IP based licenses, USB based licenses, Network based licenses among others.

Authentication based access to virtual machines can also be provided by redirecting connected peripherals. Secure boot for all round protection can also be added as an additional security feature for access. The option also exists to encrypt data for VMs wherever it is stored on disk or transported over a network for protection.

1.1.5. Custom Edition

These custom features are an on-demand addition as not all enterprises require these for their operations. These features are not associated with any edition and are deployed and priced on an individual per feature request.

1.1.5.1. BACKUP MANAGER:

The EnCloudEn Backup Manager is supported at both a VM as well as volume level. Also, policies around differential, incremental and full backups can also be scheduled around different timelines like day, week or month.

Point in time snapshots are also available apart from above that can be used to revert to any particular backup. Also, this snapshot can be attached and made available for a full restoration. Because of the SDS support and freedom in target destinations, the number of these snapshots per VM can be increased basis your requirement.

EnCloudEn Private Cloud supports volume level backup and restore functionality to multiple (but not limited to) backends like: - EnCloudEn Hyper Converged Storage - NFS Storage - POSIX File Systems - Google Cloud Storage - Amazon S3 - IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Backup utilities from other third-party vendors can also be integrated to work with. The requirement for third party backups to work is that they support direct agent-based/agentless file level backup from inside the virtual machines.

1.1.5.2. DISASTER RECOVERY:

EnCloudEn Private Cloud supports DR via multiple mechanisms including but not restricted to inbuilt replication. The replication does not require similar storage arrays on both sides and can be array agnostic in nature. Techniques to reduce the incremental new data sent between the sites are in place for an efficient bandwidth consumption. An in-built DR mechanism can allow for the whole as well as a part of the cloud to be replicated and run from a DR site. This partial DR can be set up and tested periodically. RPO and RTOs can be adjusted according to the bandwidth available between the DC/DR sites. Third party software can also be used to provide DR directly in public clouds.

Both failover and failback can be supported in the bi-directional DR. Plans can be designed for the purpose which will include a sequence and priority of VMs in the order of their recovery along with their specific assigned metadata. This can help automate the recovery process.

1.1.5.3. EFFICIENT POWER MANAGEMENT:

The load analysis on each individual physical node is available at all times. If requested, scripts are available for dynamically adjusting the power state of servers so that at non high utilization time efficient power consumption can be focused on.

1.1.5.4. AUTO-SCALE:

The auto-scale features are available in the EnCloudEn platform for your virtual machines. Your applications/processes can call out the APIs that are available for the auto-scale functions. The real-time monitoring information that is continuously available can be also used as metrics or triggers for these auto-scale functions.

1.1.5.5. HYBRID CLOUD:

The EnCloudEn platform can connect to a public cloud and also help your resource management in that space. Different levels of engagements are possible in this architecture.

1.1.5.8. GRAPHICS SUPPORT:

1.1.5.9. BIG DATA INTEGRATION:

Modules are available for big data platforms like Hadoop. The customer is advised to get in touch with the EnCloudEn solutioning team to have an in-depth discussion for their specific needs and design.

1.2. EnCloudEn HCI

ECN HCI combines your compute and storage needs into a single box to give you a modular and scalable design with a high resilient storage for your virtualized environment. It is a native hyper-converged stack that vertically integrates with the ECN Private Cloud or VDI solutions to give your applications and desktops the best speed and access to its data with minimal overhead.

ECN HCI also gives you the flexibility of deploying it as a pre-installed appliance as well as a software only solution on existing or new hardware. This new hardware can be any x86 platform without the need for any specialized hardware. All layers come integrated within the solution from the hypervisor to the software defined storage capabilities. The solution can be deployed on an all-flash storage as well hybrid storage built out of SSDs, NVMes, HDDs etc. And can be updated to single kind of storage as well. The software defined storage capabilities come integrated with the hypervisor kernel itself.

The HCI deployment can grow to a size of 64 nodes within a cluster and 256 nodes within a cloud.

1.2.1. Key Features & Capabilities:

The list below captures most of the major features that the solution provides and is also in active regular consumption in most customer locations. There are other feature sets beyond what is captured that are deployable in a production setup.

1.2.1.1. FASTEST COMPRESSION:

ECN HCI stack generally runs with LZ4 compression to give you one of the fastest storage compressions in the world today. Other compression algorithms are also available.

1.2.1.2. IN-LINE ERASURE CODING:

Erasure coding is provided as an in-line activity unlike others. This reduces your CPU overheads for the activity by up to 50% by omitting the duality of the same task carried out by offline erasure coding. You can set different profiles and policies basis the number of simultaneous failures that you want to be able to withstand.

1.2.1.3. DISTRIBUTED STORAGE CONTROLLERS:

You now have multiple storage controllers within a node that can also work with individual drives. Not only is this a much more resilient architecture, but you can rest assured that storage controllers are no longer a bottleneck for the number of drives that your node can support.

1.2.1.4. TIERING/CACHING:

You can now reduce your storage latency by built-in caching on your SSDs/NVMes. You can also preferentially automate SSD tiering for your specific data to give an immediate boost in performance. You can also enable local image caching/cloning in individual nodes for increased scalability by allowing multiple servers to serve the same image file. In-memory caching can also be enabled to support write-back or write-through caching for even better IO performance.

EnCloudEn supports the concept of storage pools. Each storage pool can be derived from different kinds of storage media. For example, storage pools can range from “always SSD”, “HDD with SSD cache”, “always NVMe”, “HDD with NVMe cache” etc depending on the hardware configuration. At the time of allocating storage for a VM, the administrator can make a choice of the storage pool from which the VM will be allocated storage.

1.2.1.5. DATA LOCALITY:

ECN HCI gives you the best performance in VM data storage by ensuring that data is written locally in the node where the VM resides. This omits all latency otherwise arising from any inter-node traffic. Data locality is on a best effort basis and data can also be accessed from another node without data locality if the need arises.

1.2.1.6. OBJECT, BLOCK & FILE STORAGE:

One of the only vendors worldwide to give you full flexibility in your storage preference by enabling all three. Now, whether you need to enable file sharing or run databases or do archival backup, you can rest assured that ECN HCI will have the best storage architecture suitable for a specific activity. You can get file services natively and run an NFS compatible file server.

1.2.1.7. DATA REDUNDANCY/RESILIENCY:

You do not need to step outside of your cluster if you are looking for data safety. ECN HCI has data redundancy in-built, so whether an individual drive fails or an entire node or rack, you know that your data is safe on another node, rack and drive in the cluster. Data integrity is also taken care of by the regular checks and disk errors are automatically detected and resolved. Both RF2/RF3 levels (and equivalent erasure coding profiles) are supported in the solution. These can be set at an individual VM level and mapped to specific requirements.

1.2.1.8. HCI NODE/CAPACITY ADDITION:

You can now grow your HCI cluster exactly as per your requirement. Additional nodes can be added without downtime if required and with a minimal human involvement. Also, you have the flexibility of adding compute only nodes or storage only nodes or a mix or even JBODs as per your need. New nodes that are added do not need to be from the same hardware vendor. Also, larger drives/RAM within the node can also be added to increase capacity.

1.2.1.9. DEDUPLICATION:

Deduplication can be preferentially enabled for workloads which might actually benefit from deduplication. Generally, deduplication comes with a CPU penalty and may not be advisable in cases where compression and thin provisioning results in adequate savings. Also though Deduplication can be run on hybrid workloads, it is generally recommended to run on all flash storage.

1.2.1.10. GRANULAR QoS:

You can now set individual storage metrics for each VM. For example, you can set the IOPs limit for each VM thereby giving preferential hierarchy of storage to individual VMs and applications based on their profile. These policies can be set across storage tiers and also automated.

1.2.1.11. THIN PROVISIONING:

BY default, thin provisioning is enabled. This allows for the creation of a virtual disk that is provisioned in full with respect to the inputted storage requirements for a VM. However, only as much storage as is needed for its initial operations is committed. Additional storage is added on the fly, thereby eliminating underutilization of storage space.

1.2.1.12. SOFTWARE DEFINED STORAGE FOR BOTH YOUR SAN & PHYSICAL/VIRTUAL SERVERS:

The software defined storage part is not restricted to just the HCI servers. You can now use the same solution to combine both your HCI servers as well as the SAN/NAS and manage them from the same platform. You can mount the external storage to the HCI cluster for provisioning storage for VMs. Also the storage available in the HCI servers can be made available as iSCSI or as an NFS access for your external physical/virtual workloads.

1.2.1.13. NON-DISRUPTIVE UPGRADES:

Rolling upgrades to the platform are now achieved without the need for any downtime. These upgrades can be made available online or offline depending on the customer’s preference.

1.2.1.14. SINGLE CONTROL PANE:

ECN HCI provides you with an integrated management platform, from where you can both observe/report the monitoring functionalities mentioned throughout this document in real time as well as carry out any orchestration on them across storage tiers. No separate independent hardware infrastructure is required for the purpose. A single sign on allows an admin to manage across levels with the right credentials and designated level of access.

1.3. EnCloudEn VDI

EnCloudEn VDI an OS agnostic solution that can run a hybrid VDI environment of any operating system of your choice. It also provides you the ability to connect via the browser, through a thin client or even through a connector app on your laptop/desktop.

1.3.1. Key Features & Capabilities:

1.3.1.1. HIGH AVAILABILITY:

ECN VDI provides you a high availability active-active architecture. This ensures that your cluster is up and running irrespective of any node failure.

1.3.1.2. DATA REDUNDANCY:

You do not need to step outside of your cluster if you are looking for data safety. ECN VDI has data redundancy in-built (if you opt for the HCI architecture), so whether an individual drive fails or an entire node, you know that your data is safe on another node and drive in the cluster.

1.3.1.3. GRANULAR QoS:

You can now set individual storage and network metrics for each VM. For example you can set the IOPs or bandwidth allocated for each VM thereby giving preferential hierarchy to individual VMs and applications based on their profile.

1.3.1.4. THIN PROVISIONING:

BY default, thin provisioning is enabled. This allows for the creation of a virtual disk that is provisioned in full with respect to the inputted storage requirements for a VM. However, only as much storage as is needed for its initial operations is first committed. Additional storage is added on the fly, thereby eliminating under utilization of storage space.

1.3.1.5. LOAD BALANCING:

The intelligent allocation algorithm of ECN VDI is able to determine the best placement of VMs so that performance is maximized across nodes.

1.3.1.6. ENVIRONMENT OPTIONS:

ECN VDI supports a hybrid environment within the same node or cluster. You can have different OSes and templates to deliver specific VDIs to specific users.

1.3.1.7. SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKING (SDN):

ECN VDI comes with a full fledged SDN suite. You can enable more granular security, optimize network hardware costs and direct and automate traffic for better QoS. You have full capabilities for delivering micro-segmentation, distributed virtual switches, Firewall as a Service and QoS controls among others as well.

1.3.1.8. ENABLING BYoD:

With native clients for different OSes in user access-devices, ECN VDI now facilitates a BYoD culture in enterprises. Employees are free to bring any laptop of their choice and connect directly to a VDI provided by the company. The IT team only needs to maintain, update and patch this VM and does not need to worry about sanitizing the user laptop. Even the connecting networks can be isolated and secured.

1.3.1.9. TRANSPARENT USB REDIRECTION:

USB redirection is not just limited to a small selection of printers and scanners. With transparent redirection you are now able to connect any device of your choice from mobile devices to hand-held hardware tokens and have them reflected in your VM.

ECN VDI comes with an app publishing platform. You can now gain much greater control on the way your applications are used. Moreover, ECN VDI enables published apps to be accessed both from Windows and Linux.

You can now grow your VDI exactly as per your need. Start as small as your requirement with even a single node deployment. Addition of new nodes to a cluster happens automatically.

With a unified management platform, sys-admins are now able to manage their entire infrastructure from a centralized location. An overview generates all necessary alerts across any resource for immediate intervention whenever required. This can be made available as a simple https access without any client installation. It also comes with a smart search across layers.

1.3.1.14. SELF-SERVICE & ROLE BASED ACCESS:

With an RBAC dashboard, users and admins can now access a control module of their own set of machines and are able to provision resources within their defined quota. You can now run your individual projects and departments and charge them based on their consumption.

1.3.1.15. REMOTE ACCESS WITHOUT VPNs:

ECN VDI customers have now moved out of dedicated leased lines with VPN. Their users accessing from outside their local network today do so securely over a simple internet connection.

1.3.1.16. CENTRALIZED APP & PROCESS ORCHESTRATOR

You are now able to have a true centralized control over all your individual VMs. With the app and process orchestrator, you can not only install, uninstall and update any group of applications on any range of VMs, but you can also start, stop or schedule a process in any VM at your convenience.

1.3.1.17. CENTRALIZED PATCH MANAGEMENT:

ECN VDI comes with a centralized patch management tool. With this you are able to create an isolated test environment within the same cluster and verify the results. Once satisfied, you can preferentially push these updates on any selected VM, ensuring that all of your systems are patched always.

You can now have Persistent, Pooled, and Shared Pool workstation modes for providing the best experience for users and server efficiency for IT. The user automatically gets his particular type of virtual desktop by simply entering his credentials.

ECN VDI is designed to operate with multiple different protocols, including one that has been developed in-house to give great performance even over lower bandwidth. This enables us to select the one that’ll provide the best performance for the workload that the VDI is being used for.
